#5 - Brazilian Side (click any picture to get enlargement) |

Today we returned to the Iguazu area to tour the Brazilian side (see #5 on the map's left side). The tour company ensured we had no troubles today. They got us on time & took us to a pickup area about 2 minutes away. There we had to wait for a half hour near a curio shop; theirs? We then boarded a bus for a 10 minute ride to the border, where we got off, paassed immigration, and got onto another bus. Finally, we got to the falls area ... 3 buses for such a short ride ... complicated! |
The trail on the Brazilian side started right across from the areas that we visited yesterday; does any of it look familiar? |
These shots are zoomed in a little more. You can make out the path and bridges that allowed us to walk above these falls yesterday. |
This is the big falls that we were very close to yesterday | The weather was much cooler today, which was refreshing! | Here is the trail down to the river where we boarded the boat |
A little ways down the path we got some good views of the upper falls ... and the many lower falls... remember, 200+ in all! |
Well...
so much for the review of the smaller falls... let's go to the real star of Iguazu, which is the 'throat' area... we were above it yesterday. |
I will include quite a few pictures of the 'throat' since each offers a slightly different prespective.
They placed the platforms in great spots... to the point where it was sometimes quite scary!
We were wondering if the offered river rafting, but this view of the river at this point makes it clear that it would be too dangerous. |
A view downstream. | Tourist boat 'visiting' the falls.
As I pan to the left we see some of the falls on the Brazilian side... there are just so many waterfalls!
I then begin to walk up a ramp to get back to the top level, and to the bus parking area.
As
I got to the top level, I got some last parting views of the river above the
falls. Iguazu was truly a very special place and should be on everyone's list of places to visit. |
