Iguazu Tour #2 - Upper Falls (Argentina)
(click any picture to get enlargement)

After completing the tour of the "Iguazu Throat" (#1 on the map), we took the train back to the parking area.  From there we walked to the "Upper Falls" trail (see #2 on the map's right side).

As you can see from the map, the entire area of waterfalls is quite extensive.  There are literally hundreds of waterfalls.

We had just one day to see all of the Argentine side, so we had to rush though the trails and take in the sights as fast as we could!

At the beginning of the trail you could see the upper rim of falls... with the "throat" in the distance. The Upper Falls area is quite wide and there are two "steps" of falls that lead to the bottom.   The trail goes along top of the falls, and has lookout platforms when there are special views.

From the top, this waterfall just looks like the end of a table. Most of these falls were not as dramatic as the "throat" ... ... but they are better than most waterfalls in the world!

From this rock ledge, the mist made a nice rainbow. The mist was constant and the rainbow probably was too. Over this fall you can see the river that they all feed.

<=== You can barely see another lookout platform on the other side of the river.

                                   =====>
From up here we can see people that are on the Lower Falls trail, which we will do next ...
  so remember this view, as you will soon see what it is like looking up from there.

From this perspective it is possible to see the two 'steps' and the three levels of water that lead down to the river.

This is a better view of the river which is fed by the falls. Later we will take a boat ride,  right up to one of the falls.

The path took us towards the biggest of the upper falls. Unfortunately we cannot get real close to this waterfall. At the end of the trail we look at this big waterfall from the side.

From backing up a bit, you can get a feel for the structure of this series of falls.

This lower waterfall was fed by multiple upper falls.
It had a LOT of water going through it.
We will now go back & take a trail along the lower part of the falls.

This concludes the views from Tour #2 - "Upper Falls".
