We are off to ...

... in August !!!

We will take some time off in Europe along the way, and should arrive
in Tel Aviv in early September.   Page down to get more info on Israel.

Israel is on the Mediterranian Sea, below Turkey, Syria and Lebanon.
To the south is Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Red Sea.
To the east is Jordan and the Dead Sea.

Area:
21,000 sq km (7,000 Sq miles)
Note: s
lightly smaller than New Jersey

Coastline: 270 km (160 miles) yeah!

Population: 6,500,000 (not many!)

Religions: Jewish 77% & Muslim 16%

Languages: Hebrew (official) & Arabic; English is a common foreign language

Capital:
Israel proclaims Jerusalem as its capital, but nearly all countries maintain their embassies in Tel Aviv... which is located on the Med. Sea.

Problem Areas: The areas of the Golan Heights, West Bank and Gaza Strip are in constant dispute.

Currency:
New Israeli Shekel (ILS)

Voltage System: 220v (yes, that means we will have to buy all new things again)

Vehicles: The driving is on the right side, but we will sell the Jeep in Venezuela ... and probably get a BMW and Mini ... like in South Africa!

Weather: The temperatures will be moderate, which we like.

Centigrade                High & Low temps                  Fahrenheit

Sunshine: Since we will no longer be close to the equator, the length of the days will vary with the seasons; and the rainy days should be few.

Rain: The desert-like conditions means it will be dry, especially in the summer.

Ready or not, Israel here we come!!!
